John Martin Tipuamantumirri worked at Ngaruwanajirri during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Early in his time there he was responsible for making morning tea for the artists and working in the grounds. Once he started painting he revealed his wonderful skills as an artist and he ceased garden work and enjoyed painting natural ochres on paper with the rest of the artists.
He developed an individual style using lines first then blocking in areas of colour followed often by an overlay of dots. He showed a great enjoyment of working with colour, line and dot. His work was exhibited at Charles Darwin University and AGSA. John Martin's works are held in the Charles Darwin University Art Collection, the University of Newcastle Art Collection and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
