Bruce has had a lengthy association with the Keeping Place, A carver of wood, he learnt to utilise mechanised tools and saws as well as hand held gouging implements when he worked with the Adult Education program in 1994 and soon joined in with the new Ngaruwanajirri arts activities later in 1994. Bruce now prefers to carve small works for sale with Ngaruwanajirri. 

A respected cultural man, he also contributed a Tutini to an outstanding group of seven exhibited in Paris at Galerie Baudon Lebon, arranged by the Australian Embassy. His work was included in the Ngaruwanajirri exhibition at Charles Darwin University Art Gallery in 2011.
